Fabbed a board rack
« on: May 28, 2015, 07:20:04 PM »
After failing at the first attempt, I came up with something stronger.  Stupid over-engineered, but if the wall falls over the boards are probably the least of my concern.

1x2 .120 wall steel tube (had it on hand)
11g steel for the "oar"
plasma cut out the design, sectioned and welded the 2 pieces together.  Welded the steel tube at a 10deg angle.  Painted the whole thing, installed caps on the tube, foam sleeves on the tube, then capped the square tube where the fasteners are so there are no holes.

Then I mounted it too high  :o ;D

The bottom board sits above my head (I'm 6'5") so it saves a ton of space.  Luckily I have some extra bulbs on hand for when I smash that light fixture.   Or I could just move the damn thing over 12"....

'scuse the garage....we are remodeling the house and everything is just tossed wherever!

That's really great. Nice work and it's cool when someone makes something pretty as well as functional. I appreciate the extra effort.

Looks Great!

So I guess it's also a pull up bar👌

I need to build a rack myself to straighten up this PAS (paddleboard acquisition syndrome)

Nice work on the rack. I would need a protective barrier for the florescent bulbs .
