Inside the female thought process --
« on: May 23, 2015, 06:34:34 PM »
Today I go to Home Depot, my wife is in car with me as a passenger.  Said she wanted to tag along.
Purpose of trip:  to rent an hourly truck and haul 4sheets of drywall.  15min drive to drop them off, then back to the store.  Maybe 1hr total, including time to buy materials and load the truck.

At the store, I ask if she'd like to use my vehicle and go shopping while I make the delivery?
She takes off w/ my vehicle.
Never comes back.   ::)
Can't make this sh*t up.  ???

"I thought you said you had rented a truck??"
I had to go home by taxi.   ;D

I love it! Least you got brownie points for giving her the car. Can't wait to see the responses this brings!

Inside the female thought process --

The title makes me break out in sweat, panic, and makes me want to run  aimlessly to escape.

I think I like the Great White topics better.

This thread is just another example of the casual - and sometimes unintentional - misogyny that occasionally appears on this forum. It was referred to in another thread by one of our female members. I'm not sure you even know you are doing it sometimes. But it doesn't reflect well on you or the SUP community. So if you've got any other rude or patronising things to say about half of the world's population, I'd really appreciate it if you'd get it off your chest by bellyaching to a friend rather than posting it on a public forum where women may be reading. Thanks.

Agreed, it was a trick question --  there's no such thing.

A true case of selective hearing: "Would you like to take my vehicle and go shopping while I make the delivery?"
Good thing I've never tried to coordinate a down-winder dropoff/pickup w/ her.  ;D

Wow, thank goodness for the thought police patrolling. We'll all be sure to run everything by you in the future A10 to take advantage of your superior morality and judgement.

Anything close to what you imagined?

for whatever it's worth....I have always thought my judgement was a bit shy of good but my morality was ok but that's just what I think.......which doesn't matter anyways.

Seems like a reflection of the male thought process as well. So you go to buy drywall, the wife ditches you, but you don't focus on the task on hand; buying 4 sheets of rock, renting a truck and driving it home. WTF is up with that? Sounds like an excuse not to hang some drywall.

Just how some types of leadership works.

The person in charge is supposed to have it all handled
all the way down to the details.
Whether it is all in your head or is delegated.

Delegation allows for the group to be engaged...

Otherwise everyone just waits to be told what to do...

Since you dismissed her to go shopping she figured you had it all worked out...

Not gender based at all...

On the other hand who wants to load and unload drywall..some would rather go shopping...

Starman, were you AND she off shopping together??

I did rent the truck, dropoff the sheets, and hightail it back to the store.  That's when I realized I was stranded.  She was an hour away by that point.
Cellphones only work as a communication tool if the other person LISTENS to what you're saying ;)

'S-position, I can fit 44" of sheetgoods in my SUV.  Which usually means trimming 4" off in the parking lot before loading.  Since I had a co-pilot w/ me and there was a spare truck in the lot, I assumed the logical choice was to rent the truck emblazoned in huge letters "$19 for 1st 60 minutes!!".

Therein lies my mistake.  Not that I ass-u-med.  Simply that I used logic  :D.
