Shape3d Lite - 2D File Export
« on: May 22, 2015, 04:42:05 AM »
Quick question.

Does anyone know whether Shape 3D "lite" support exports in 2D i.e. DXF or DWG?

Cheers

I don't believe so you would need to the export plug in for that  (48 euro for 1 month) which I do even have at the moment I am considering getting it soon.

DXF and DWG are actually 3D files. The 2D drawings you see are still 3D, but the entire drawing is drawn with Z=0. My full version of AutoCAD has a flatten command that sets all lines to "0" Z axis. AutoCAD also has their own proprietary versions of DWG files that are not backwards compatible (Bastards!). There is a generic DWG format that everyone else uses. AutoCAD 2000 files are pretty much generic. Starting with 2002 version, they created their proprietary coding. If you stay with DXF you'll be better off.

I print the Shape3D lite designs out in a PDF, then import them to AutoCAD, trace, scale and compare dimensions until it's exact. Then I print full size sheets to make my templates from.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.
