Two thumbs up for ProBox system.  (I actually only have 1 1/2 thumbs but you get the idea).

I have concluded that futures are GARBAGE.  I have personally blown out several, and 2 sets of lockbox systems.

They may work on smaller boards with smaller fins but our SUP's ride high, due to volume.  This ironically puts more pressure on the fins and therefore the fin boxes.  The larger ProBox base holds up (should hold up) better.  The other advantage of controlling the cant angle is a big plus.

I have been doing a bunch of fin testing that warrants an entire post using older FCS fins.  If you go to a surf store they will often have a box of older fins you can buy for $5 to $10 a piece even the stiffer fiberglass fins.  The ZERO degree system insert has offered the ability to swap foils, lefts and rights to measure/evaluate benefits.

I have to admit one reason I have futures boxes, is because my first home made board had O'fish'l boxes, and their box template is exactly the same as the Futures. As I busted the O'fish'l boxes out I replaced them with Futures. This gave me more fin options seeing my other surf boards and SUP boards all have Futures boxes as well.  My local supplier seems to only have ProBox left overs and the guys that work there don't know much about fin boxes. They do have plenty of FCS and Futures boxes.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Beasho, I've been watching craigslist for the surf garage sales for exactly that reason, scooping up old fins to mess with.

I hadn't thought about the strength thing too.

No placement yet but I'm studying other boards to work that out and searching old threads. Larry posted a good bit about Simmons board on here.

Futures boxes are made in Huntington beach, CA.
For me, I have to at least try and support my local comanies.

I agree, Probox is awesome as far as adjustability. More strength than futures is debatable.

Tell it! ;D

Keeping this alive. I haven't heard back about my quote so I'm looking for another laser cutter.

More to come.

Ok found a local hacker space that I'm going to check out. Decided to do the handle template first as a test and if the numbers line up I'll post up files. In the meantime if anyone wants a copy to test just PM me.
