My 9.0 does the same. Of course the scale to your 7.8" is about the same for the weight difference--240 pounds--and the tail is wider, but still similar in form and scale.  It's quick and maneuverable, but I need to keep my weight on the front foot to hold speed. That actually makes the board capable of some things that would be hard with a different tail--more speed control and more rail control. I need to stop riding my comfortable 10'4" and start riding the 9.0 again.

Cool board. I suspect that you'll be less than totally pleased with it, until it suddenly clicks as the new normal. Then it will be the board you compare everything else to.

I'd hope so Pono.  My friend the owner of the 7'7 Pro had the same problem when he went down from the 8'5 Pro.  He told me the same!  One good thing about taking the plunges, during this "learning curve," is that the proners are so afraid of the board flying at them they pretty much stayed away from me.

Nice ride, Rat! Would like to see some vid of you on that thing. At 180lbs it would be WAY to small 4me.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Yeah, Rat.  Let me know and we can arrange a SoloShot vid session for you.  Maybe at Bolsa Chica or somewhere nearby.

I'm slowly nailing it down.  The "dunking" factor went down quite a bit.  Fell a few times this morning in knee to butt waves with slight chop.  Falling was due to missing the first wave and being caught with the board almost parallel to the next incoming wave and leaning too much to one side.  The pics were taken about 3 weeks ago.

If a King's Cali Destroyer and a Blane Chambers Hull Destroyer II got into a fight, who do you think would win and why?

Rat, You are rippin' on that potato chip. The diamond tail on my 7'11" and 8'4" King's  are wider and they were designed more for a back foot style. But at 115 liters mine is Battlestar Galactica compared to yours!

I am riding mine in small chop now. Practice practice practice. And I do NOT have a work of art mermaid pad to distract me!!

It is interesting to hear your progress, Rat, since on a body kilo/liter basis you are about the same as me in relation to the 9'3" Prowave.

I would imagine it is not a perfect one to one correlation, your board may afford different and greater challenge, but I expect that it will take me at least a full six months of practice before my body maps reasonably clue into the Prowave for standard SUP balance on the water.  On the waves, the Prowave has been wonderful.

One-off.  Drawing and then cutting each of the pieces individually.

If both boards are the same (length/width/volume), then most likely a draw.
