+1 on Fiji. Awesome place.

Seriously considering Fiji. How are the locals? Crowded? Sup friendly?

I'm just back again from Fiji yesterday. As far as locals go you won't find any friendlier. Sups are all over Fiji you will only find small issues at places like Cloudbreak when it’s really good with some surf guides but there are so many places to go along the Coral Coast.

You can make this trip super economical or tear a hole in your pocket so big it will take a year to sew it shut. There is some really good deals going around at places like the Beachouse where I filmed the movie below , you can rent the movie for 5 bucks and will give a great Insight to Fiji. Plantation Island is good family value and close to all the Surf. Musket Cove is another good value one. Denarau Island is probably where your parents would like to stay and where all the major hotels are , just look for packages that includes meals. The major chains are big beautiful Hotels and they charge like wounded bulls. Even with the US$ at about 1.8 to 1 Fiji it will still hurt.

The Choice is endless and look along the Coral Coast as well. At the Nadi end where you fly in is Denarau Island and all the famous surf breaks . Namuto  & Tavaru are the number one picks for being close to everything but incredibly expensive. Plantation is near by and good value. Frigates is at the other end of Fiji towards Suva and there is also plenty of accommodation at that end as well. You can get to Frigates from any of the surf based resorts like the Beachouse house as well. There is also heaps of waves along the Coral Coast straight out front of all the small resorts. If you are a kiter take you kite , always plenty of wind in the afternoons.

Surf transfers vary from $80 to $150 Fiji per day. There is a place called Seashell very cheap very close to Cloudbreak but it has been left to ruin so don’t go there. It has just been bought out so leave it for a year at least but keep it on your list as it is the closest best value place closest to Cloudbreak on the mainland. Drop me a PM or email for any more info
