I'm suddenly tired of "heavy" boards.
« on: April 17, 2015, 03:23:22 PM »
Last week, I just didn't want to load up my winter "icebreaker" SUP any more.
40 lbs was great in the spectacular conditions this winter... but I don't want to pick it up again.
I guess I'm a foul weather friend.
So I paddled 8.5 miles on my Alana Monday... 4.5 on Tuesday

Yesterday, I was suddenly "over" surfing my much loved Alana.
I water swapped for 9' carbon board, pumped a few down the line, smacked a few lips... reluctantly gave it back.
I have had enough "longboarding" (for now)

Winters over and I want a frickin' short, light board.

I ordered epoxy to fix my Prowave...... it won't be here for a week... but thats really a winter board as well.

Please don't reply with suggestions of boards that are light and fantastic.
I am more than well aware of all the great boards out there.... I'd like 1 of each.

I know where I'm going.... but I'm not there yet.... and I'm freakin' out.
 :P :-[ :-X :-\ :'( ??? :( >:( :o :( ??? :P :-[ :-\ :'(

Rant over. (for now)
crap... I don't feel any better :(

Sounds like cabin fever to me, suffer from the same thing at times.   A change of adrenaline source fixes me up, couple of scares on the motorbike, some aerobatics and then get the chain saw out ;D

The old sup's seem positively inviting after that.

Good luck with your short board hunt,
Cheers DK

me too and my boards are both 25 lbs    but unless  Jim K,  Wardog or   Dave D at Kings decides to start up a charity for    old,  broke, poor and broke  did I mention deserving but poor and broke  standup surfers,  Then I'll be riding  those  boards for a long long time   and just in case a 9'5-9'10  x 32-33 carbon fiber   would  make it christmas day here .

Don't get a short light board, they don't work, they suck, and if you have to wear a wetsuit, it's even worse!

It takes a quiver to do that.

A. Haunt Craigslist and other classifieds. Expand the range out to a few hundred miles. I don't know what the inventory is on the east coast, but you can buy some light, short stuff here on Maui for peanuts. Of course you don't pay what they're asking, you offer half or less. Tell them to save your number for when they get tired of looking at the board.

B. Offer to trade. Lots of people buy short and light and find they can't stand on it long enough to catch anything.

C. Get over it. Big is the new small.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Get spankered - then you can get all the light boards you can shake a stick at and ladies will be throwing themselves at you to boot.  It is the only solution to your woes.

Spankered:

The equivalent to being extemely drunk, ‘lagging’ or ‘hammered’ used for description.
Boy 1: Mate, I cannot wait until after all the exams are all over, gonna be mad.
Boy 2: I know! I’m gonna get absolutely spankered every weekend!
To be very drunk, softer version of wankered
I was totally spankered last night

Wow, 8.5 miles on the Alana is impressive! I guess I can stop worrying about whether my Nalu will serve well enough as a touring board for my wife when I'm not surfing it.
