ya--megapole seems amazing--like a drone shot but in close, likely too close for a drone.

Jason, your shots with the megapole are SPECTACULAR. My only issues with the go-pros are the distortions and limitations inherent in the point of view with nearly all of the current mounting systems.

Sure looks like the megapole has solved that problem brah!

Keep 'em coming!!  8)  8)  8) ;D

My arm is my mega pole (Pono is working on a longer arm I am not sure what to do about the hair).  Creek was asking how I take these?   It is the head strap that I whip off once I catch the wave.  I have it tethered to my camelbak just in case.  You will see the orange tether line.

With the right lighting the Hero3+ video stills make fantastic shots.  Here was a little down the line snippet on a sunny day (1080P @ 30 fps)

As some of you know I have taken to narration and singing while wave riding and by gosh GoPros are Good and People like 'em  ;D

I am including the video as proof I made the wave.

The GoPro, despite its shortcomings for accentuating wave size, is one of the best Stoke generating devices ever invented.  I originally started making videos in 1990 to highlight how cool windsurfing was.  Back then you would tell people you windsurfed and they would picture you Putt-Putting across a lake.  I would then say "You have to check this out . . . "

Its happening again with Paddle Boarding Dopey Dope.

While people liked the windsurfing videos they could only take so much back and forth so I added crashes.  Then I added PEOPLE to the videos.  This really started in college with what I called party videos.  Everybody wanted to watch these they had a Starring role.  Pretty soon the mere act of bringing out the camera raised the ante on what type of craziness would ensue.  People were swinging from Chandeliers, jumping off buildings into piles of snow, heck light the snow on fire . . . .

We have seen these same antics play out in the GoPro universe.  Lately I have taken a page from this play book and started to incorporate others into the imagery (like DailyBread).  To get these shots you have to have a willing participant and be willing to bump boards.

Sort of on subject~
Coachella, Lollapalooza ban selfie sticks
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS /

Monday, March 30, 2015, 3:00 PM

Selfie sticks are getting no play at two of the summer's biggest music festivals.
Both California's Coachella and Chicago's Lollapalooza have banned the retractable selfie-snapping wands, following the lead of several art museums.
In Coachella's case, organizers of the festival, which runs for weekends beginning April 10, listed the sticks on a rundown of banned items along with a playful jab: "No Selfie Sticks/Narcissists," Brooklyn Vegan reported.
Lollapalooza listed the rods alongside camera gear like GoPro attachments and monopods as examples of what not to bring to the July 31 to Aug. 2 event.
So far, the two appear to be the first major festivals to ban the annoying gizmos, which have become wildly popular with tourists and other selfie-snappers over the past year.
The Governor's Ball, on Randall's Island on June 5-7, doesn't mention them on its online list of forbidden items.
The Daily News reached out to festival reps to clarify their selfie-stick policy.
Citing fears over damaged art or injuries, several world-class museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA and the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., announced earlier this year that art lovers would have to ditch their selfie-sticks before entering.
A handful of major arenas in the UK also recently enacted similar policies, including the O2 Arena in London and Wembley Arena.
"Selfies are a big part of the gig experience… so our advice is don't bring them and stick with the tried and tested use of an arm," a Wembley Arena spokesperson told NME.

I guess that would mean that you also can't bring your paddle to the concerts.
It takes a quiver to do that.
