Still shots can come out awesome. Beasho, those are great.

The Video of the same wave might be a lot less interesting.

My SoloShot2 arrived a couple of days ago and I have been trying and trying to get it to work.  Not tracking at all; I think I must have gotten a defective one. I'm carefully following the setup instructions to the letter.  It sort of tracks me for about one minute and then turns 180 away from me.  (Sort of like some of the girls I used to try to date)

Trying to decide whether to have Amazon replace it or just get my money back.  I'm pretty disgusted with the whole thing right now.

Wow, sensitive.

I believe I was talking about women with selfie arms. Any direction you take my comments from there is just me getting free space in your gourd.

For what it's worth I have four storage boxes with of MePros and related junk and billions of frames of me, me, me.

I'm sure you know I was too. Not so sure about my friend Creek. He may be looking to swat me one next summer.

ha ha... I had a mission with that reply.

I know a lot of folks who are reluctant to post vids on the Zone... big audience and all.

I really don't want them discouraged from doing it.

The words of respected Zoners like you boys carry weight...

If they feel that posting vids of themselves will be regarded as self indulgent vanity, we will miss out on some great stuff.

I am just a huge fan of everyone posting their vids.... anything they produce is better than the crap on TV.

rant with a purpose  ;)

besides, I had to have something to raz Stoney about yesterday!

Zoo - what did you end up doing?

Bummed to hear about the issues your having. Haven't happened to me but I did have an issue with the camera controller. Customer service was awesome. Let us know what you ended up doing

I just received my third SoloShot2 unit and this one works perfectly.  I'm giving it a try tomorrow. Unfortunately, I can't surf for another week because I have stitches in my hand.  OCSurf is going to wear the tag tomorrow and I'll get some shots of him surfing while I dial in the SoloShot.

Success!  Tested the SoloShot2 again this evening on the beach by my house and it works fantastic.  Most of the problems I was having were because I wasn't setting it up properly.  There are a lot of nuances that are not covered well enough in the documentation.  Now that I understand everything, the unit works perfectly.

I have a new problem now though.  I'm discovering that my camera I'm putting on the SoloShot is barely good enough to even use.  It's got a wimpy 3X digital zoom that is almost useless unless you are surfing really close to shore.   Now I have to invest in a good cam that has a 25X or more optical zoom.   Digital zoom is not cutting it.

How about a Canon 5D Mark III with the 70-200mm f2.8L II IS lens.  The 5D takes awesome HD video.
