I had wanted to order another but shorter waist leash from Hailey for average days and heard here he might have stopped.  This belt combined with a leash I've already got works too.

The belt would make a handy attachment spot for switched out gopro mounts when changing them out on the water.

Ralph I sent you a pm.

Ralph, have you tried it in the sizable swell we have just had?  What do you think?

Yes I have been using the belt through this swell..
I don't usually get clocked but when I do it works well.
I find that I don't get pulled in as far and am generally near the surface..
Easier to swim if I need to get through a few before I can mount.
Less issues with leash/paddle entanglement.

Yes the leash has found some interesting ways around, over and under me.
But I am usually being tumbled at that point..

OK, I tried of these today.  I have to say the first time I got yanked, I was expecting more.  The waves were head high to 1-2 overhead on the sets.  Nothing in the realm of what Beasho uses them in.  But I now know why.  I took off on one of the bigger set waves and the lip caught me as soon as I started down the line.  It felt like it only pulled for a second or two and then stopped.  I honestly thought my leash broke.  I had to dive under a few that broke right in front of me and again, it only pulled for a second or two.  Weird feeling that I had to get used to. It was nice not having to worry about my leash on my ankle and stepping on it and things like that.  I had one wave that I did not quite make it over when paddling back out. I went over the wave and the board went with the wave. It pulled me along the surface with my head out of the water for at most about 3 seconds and then done.

For me the only down fall would be when coming up after getting rolled, I jerk my leash with my foot and it pulls the board right back to me if it is right side up.  I can't do that now but no big deal. Definitely like the waist leash.

The foot thing doesn't work on big gun leashes anyways, it's so nice to be able to reach at your waist and pull.your board in.
I go with a much longer leash now, way easier on the board.  I was in San Carlos this swell and I don't think I ever swam to the surface once.  Just roll with the initial pounding then simply V underwater,,, no swimming,  no burning your big muscle groups, that's what is robbing your o2 down there in the dark blue.. take that out of the equation and you have a lot more to.work.with.  that in turn takes the apprehension out of the beatings, and that really helps.with the coservation of o2.  It all.adds up to getting out in bigger stuff and feeling good about it.  I would never go back to a foot leash.  In big waves, I go leash-less or my waist.  Stupid leg rope of death almost killed me out at avalanches,,, stupid leash,,,hahaahah

I am suprised more people aren't using them. I guess the whole cool factor gets thrown out there, but we are sup'ing, so the cool.factor.was fucked off long ago,ha

I use a leash attached to my camelback for downwinding, and I love it. Gets the leash out of the way. At first I was fiddling with the leash when I'd get back on the board after a fall, but quickly learned to just ignore it--the leash takes care of itself, even if it's wrapped around you. When you get up on your knees it either automatically flops into position or a quick flip sets it back behind you.

Faster to get the board back than pulling with your foot--the leash is in arms reach.

I'm going to convert for surfing too. I'm totally sold.

I wonder if there would be an increased risk/speed of the board coming back at your head with the leash at a higher position.
