The next step 12'6 x 21.5"
« on: February 26, 2015, 01:03:36 PM »
Well after the success of the 22.5" and it being so stable there was only one way to go, so I have dropped a inch and gone to 21.5". I also made a few little tweaks to the standing area and updated the design after a few hand made alterations to the 22.5. I have allso decided to try the twin/tri setup to see what it's all about so chucked in a few extra boxes.

Out of curiosity, how high do the feet end up above the waterline with that setup?  It would be interesting to see how the identical board with no recessed deck would affect stability.  Actually all you would need would be a block of foam cut out to fill in the standing area.  It would be  great experiment, and much easier than digging a hole in an existing board which does not have a recessed deck.

i aim for about 1"  above the water line. I will try that like you say when i get it on the water and see the difference. I  to try and make the boards controllable and predictable and loose that scence of always wanting to be spat of the hole time and being able to see exactly were there board will sit with my weight on it on the computer and adjust the deck to suit makes this posable. I was out with a friend last week on the surf boards and he was we swapped boards and it the above was his same comment. I wasn't really a fan of the sunken deck to start with as they are a pain to glass and add a lot of extra work but the advantages it brings on this style of board is pretty high.

I don't know that I've ever even owned a prone board that narrow. It must be nice to have Wallenda genes.  Awesome board.

Wow....I'd need two. Beauty though...love the colors also, going to look great with a clear coat.

Are those twins canted or is it just the camera? I'm going to install the twins in my Vec finally and plan on following Larry A's advice on the setup.

Cheers no no can't just a small amount of toe as per larrys guide lines. Need to still actually make up a set of fins for it to test it with.

Well she floats! And prity darn stable at that I felt super cumfey, the only time it goes a bit tipy is if you go in to a full on mental sprint. We didn't get much time on it or realy any data but it steams a very usable board and I think it will be fine even in a bit of chop or dw however testing now will have to be in 3 weeks time as I'm of to Australia for a surf trip between melbourn and Brisbane :)

Gorgeous! Glad it worked out for you. Would love to try something that narrow just for a good laugh.

Charlie, I thought the first one was spectacular, this one is absolutely gorgeous. It's narrower than my ESA  Contest proners from the 80's. Sheesh.

Have a great trip!

Cheers I'm pretty convinced I haven't hit the limit as far as stability and width goes and defiantly not with a 14'. Soon as I get back I will hopefully be able to figure out the advantages of going narrow more
