On-water Universal "Zoner" signal?
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:57:00 PM »
I'm thinking maybe a universal "Zoner" signal is in order for use in the water to identify fellow brethren.

Sure, there's the "Oar-on" t-shirts and all which are great and have likely led to several a conversation/introduction in a parking lot with two Zoner's, or more, meeting for the first time(????)

So how about some super secret gesture while on the water that instantly recognizes one as "zoner'?  Should be super low key/stealth-like - which upon extending the gesture is returned, clearly identifies membership.

I'm not advocating anything like:

but maybe a paddle blade slap with the hand.

Half serious, but I do think it'd be kinda cool.....I can only imagine what's about to come......

Okay, maybe I'm officially cray cray....I'll blame it on 30 years of active duty!

Awesome, a secret sign to identify us amongst the peasants. I have one that could also simultaneously pay homage to the all powerful LAIRD.

Maybe just use a little paddle play,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or just wear a mask~
It takes a quiver to do that.

The Zoners are easy to spot. They are the ones standing up holding paddles.

Not that simple, and can't do from a distance, but otherwise something like this (from Undercover Brother) might work:

I have a novel approach:
"Are you a Zoner?"

usually works.

Zoner spotings should be simple they paddle correctly while standing up. I was the only one this past weekend standing up paddling, and with my 8 year daughter Standing  up with me. 8)

How about a ZONE trucker's hat? Most of us here probably already surf with a hat (Mr. Melanoma never takes a day off), so it makes sense.

Make them available here and that way only zoners can buy them.
What do you think?

Now that you mention it, there is room on my head. Right where my Lakers hat used to sit:(

A trucker hat could be nice.

Actually, an actual zoner truck would be nice.  You'd just need to make one, then anytime anyone wanted to take it somewhere else they could just hijack it.
