California Board Company
« on: January 26, 2015, 06:39:10 PM »
Anybody have any  experience  with this  companies boards? Was in Sam's over the weekend and they had an 11' EFG  at a reasonable  price.   I have never been on a board before.   I am in Tuscaloosa AL and there is just now started to be a group of paddlers here but no dealers nearby.

Here is their web site.

For the same money, I would buy a higher quality used board.  In the long run it will hold most of its value and more of your interest.

Alabama?

If you are just gonna paddle around the lake and river just get the widest and biggest board you can find, so that you can attach cooler for the drinks, and go fishing on top of it or something.

Most of the zoner here surfs in the open ocean with the SUP board. They are looking for smallest and easiest turning board they can find for their ability.

It's Sam's club, buy it and if you don't like it you return it.

I think that if you watch Amazon closely and search for SUP deals, some really great boards pop up on sale for super cheap money.

There are a number of decent entry level boards perfect for flat-water like Bic, Surftech, ATX. They usually have a "bundle" price including paddle and leash.
(I would upgrade to a carbon shaft paddle)

The sale prices go as low as $350 and sometimes include shipping.... hard to go wrong if you can score a great deal.... just read up on how to get Amazon to notify you about SUP sales... then buy on the spot... they usually only have a few boards at the sale price.

But get something and start paddling  ;D
