Game changer: Red Paddle Co Titan inflatable SUP pump
« on: January 08, 2015, 06:40:09 AM »
The pump features two chambers, one larger volume cylinder (low pressure) and one lower volume cylinder (high pressure). Think of it as a combination of the regular Ezee and the Ezee HP side by side. You start with both cylinders pumping huge amounts of air into the board, then at about 15-18PSI, you flip a switch and it pumps through the high pressure side only. You’re pumping almost double the amount of air into the board than usual, and can still finish it off with high pressure.

For now the Titan SUP pump is only available with select Red Paddle Co inflatable SUPs which are arriving in a few days.

When we pump up the rentals we use a double action kite pump first. Kite pump move a ton of air on the up and down stroke. We top off the boards with  a  Naish high pressure pump but we do have to change out. The K pump kind of does the same thing with the two different chambers in one. Now is some one can make the connections better and a hose that will last.

I thought the bravo double action SUP pump would be good, but after a few months using it I'm back to a regular single action SUP pump.

The problem i found with the bravo double action is when you switch it to single action (pushing down), you're fighting the pump on every pull up because not enough air can get in to the down chamber...

Is the high volume part of this new pump still partially engaged always? and are you still fighting it a little when using the high pressure chamber only?
Looks pretty heavy, What does it weigh ?

I wonder why they don't do a coaxial piston. Easy to do, and it can be designed to automatically adjust.

As far as I know, the pump shaft still goes up and down but the air is bled off with no resistance out of the high volume side. I think it is about 4-5lbs.

I am a little technically inclined but you'll have to elaborate on coaxial piston please Bill.

This concept works great. I designed this exact pump about 10 years ago for kitesurfing. The problem was all the locals stealing my pump, to pump up their kites. Everybody wanted to use it. I made one for North Kites and they considered putting it in production.

This red pump improves on mine by allowing you to use one side when it gets too hard to pump. That was the weakness in mine. Fast, but tiring to use.

Bravo Red Paddle Co.

I can agree that this pump is a game changer.

I know I am late to this thread, but just in case anyone else comes across it.
This is different than the bravo double action design because you are always pumping in the downward stroke and not in both directions like the bravo. Makes it easier on the back. So once you switch to a single barrel, it is still a smooth downward stroke.

In my findings, I found the dual pump works to about 5psi (almost on the nose it starts getting tough). Then you switch it to single and can get to 15psi. From 15 to 20 you will have to work for it because even the single pump gets tough. But I find (being 6'3 and 210lbs) having the 20psi is nice.

Maybe one day I will get it to 25psi ;)

Happy Paddling!
