There aren't too many times that stand ups are invited to surf Pipeline (like never before now).

Stand Up Paddling to be showcased at Pipeline featuring Hawaii's leading figures

The Waterman League is proud to work with this prestigious event to bring Hawaii's leading Stand Up Paddle athletes to Hawaii's most iconic wave: Pipeline.

10 unique athletes have been chosen based on their ability to step up and take on the infamous Pipeline, but also as a result of their stature in islands and the celebration of Hawaiian surfing that this event provides.

Here are the 10 invited athletes:

Kainoa McGee (Oahu)
Kolaiah Jardine (Big Island)
Keali'i Mamala (Big Island)
Ekolu Kalama (Moloka'i)

You guys are adorable. It's Da Hui. It's Eddie Rothman. Yes, it's intentional. Read up on their fights with the ASP over the triple crown and if you're not hip to the old days of Da Hui, do a little searching it's a pretty good story.

I'm glad SUS is invited and I think it's key that it's seen as "Hawaiian." If it's good enough for the Pipe crew then everyone else can shut up.

Let's all shift focus and think of how terrifying pipe must be on a big board and then marvel at the laid back style on the rider (ikaika?) in that clip. He looks like I would cruising on a knee high wave and he's fully shacked at Pipeline. Respect.

Haha it's just a matter of no lifeguards. Been poaching Oldmans and nobody can say sheite. Was out and the bullhorn just said stay 100 ft from surfers so they have been educated via I presume sup surfchicks work with the officials.
