Repairing small dings in gelcoat rails of hollow carbon board
« on: December 18, 2014, 09:30:45 PM »
Can anyone suggest how I might repair the gelcoat of this board? You can see a lot of small scratches and dings etc on the rails due to laying the board on its side on various surfaces. I did not know about RailSaverPro and so now I have some the question is do I repair this first or put the RSP directly on?

Your choice. You can peel off the SIC decals, sand the rails and rattle can them. Replacement SIC decals are available for about ten bucks from SIC Maui. Or just stick on the RSPro and call it good. I elected for the rattle can approach and now I need to replace the stickies. Use the standard water plus a drop of detergent method for getting the stickies right.

Thanks PB. That's great advice. I'm going to opt to try and repair before replacing the decals and before adding the RSP to the Wonder Bread Board.

Managed to get the "rail rash" repaired and Rail Saver Pro on the board, and looks like new (almost). Somehow getting the board back from the repair place to getting the Rail Saver Pro on I managed to put a few nicks in. I'm leaving the SIC decals as they are for the time being..
