Bic Tracer 14ft, flatwater test run
« on: December 17, 2014, 08:18:24 PM »
Hello, relatively new to the zone. Got the new Tracer the other day, thought some might like to see it on the water as there is not much video yet.

Thanks for sharing, Flathead.  Have you paddled other, similarly spec'd 14s?  How do they compare in terms of stability, speed, etc.?

Like you said, not many reviews out there yet on this board but it looks well designed.

Heh FCR, I have not tested others of this type. Due to circumstances of where I live and travel I had to make a leap of faith and trust in Bic's design principles and what I had read (and a trustworthy seller). The board is stable to use and well behaved without feeling like a door at 28inchs - lifting the nose by stepping back is easy and keeps things under control where that is needed. I need to give it a run in some rougher stuff asap. The video is shot in a wide estuary out the front of our "weekender", this board is perfect for here. I have done quite a few Ks without coming off yet - on that flat water I suppose that is no great feat :-)

I like the nose design. That seems perfect for choppy water.

A shot showing the nose and giving a perspective of the lines of the board.

Doing some testing for trim and balance. This board definitely has good glide and balance.

What's your setup for the on-water cam? That's actually a really cool view and useful tool I never even thought of!

Kids old surf lid. I use the wristband around the camera stem as well in the event of the camera falling off. I think with an offset fin and towing from a corner it could be made to follow at a great angel as well. I have turned the lid over and placed the camera on the nose lift to prevent the front of it making an appearance in the camera view. Carry it on the board and kick it off when required. - cheers!
