It certainly ups the balance ante, but maybe it's just an excuse for the lithesome babes to exhibitionist a bit in yoga pants and bikinis in a nice environment.

If I did it, it would cure the spectators permanently, but they would need barf bags.

I'm in favor of it.

Personally, I'd rather paddle, but if you think of it as an alternative to being stuck inside on a nice day doing yoga, instead of outside on the water, it makes sense. They like being out on the water for the same reasons I do.  I'm sure many do take up paddling after being introduced to the boards through yoga.

But I agree, it does remind me of the aqua-joggers slogging back and forth in the pool, when they could instead just take off their floaties and actually SWIM.

Somewhere (maybe another thread?) I just saw a kit you can buy so you can attach a stretch-cord to your board, and get exercise for your arms and core by standing on your board in the water and pulling on the cord.   ::)   I guess it beats using barbells or a Universal gym on your board.

I can see it making Yoga more of a workout. Holding some of those poses on dry land has to be tough enough never mind balancing on a board.

Not something I'll do but I'll happily watch.... :)

I use to think it was contrived. And when I gave lessons, mostly to women, I really focused on learning good paddle technique so we could make headway in all conditions and get a great workout in and a nice tour covering some ground. I really poopoo'ed SUP YOGA but I have come around and agree with other posters that on a nice summer day why not get outside and do your thing on a paddle board and if your thing is YOGA great and it turns out doing a few yoga postures on a board is a great way to loosen up and prepare for a long paddle workout or a race.

Somehow, winter yoga in drysuits on SUP just doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi.

I'm all for it. This is, in my mind, the desire of mankind to constantly evolve and innovate. So if everyone is swimming in the pool then why not try something new like Aqua jogging or whatever. Same for yoga. If everyone is in the studio then getting out on the water is just another part of the evolution of sport. Without this evolution tendency we'd have never discovered windsurfing (adding a sail to a board) or SUP, I guess. The friends I have who've done SUP yoga tell me it is way more challenging and fun than actual yoga. That's a great combination to get people outside and on the water.
