durability Ron House 12-6 carbon?
« on: November 23, 2014, 05:37:11 PM »
I own a fiberglass Riviera Ron House 12-6 race board.  I think it is a pretty light lay-up; it dings easily.  I have an opportunity to buy the same board in carbon.  I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the durability of carbon Ron House?

I may be preaching to the choir here...but typically carbon construction over regular epoxy/glass is always stronger and more durable. Great for race boards as there light and the stiffness (generally) isn't a complaint for racers.

I would say Sup44 is correct. I've had a 12'6" Ron House Carbon for about three years. I stopped racing but still use it regularly for training/fitness. The only dings in it are not from time in the water but moving the board around. It seems to be pretty solid but still will ding. I'm seeing a lot of pretty damn good race boards out on Craigslist these days so I would only pull the trigger if the deal is good. The RH is not that fast but is very stable.
