Shark Jumping
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:41:36 AM »
When I was testing the Bullet V3 prototype yesterday a good sized Tiger swam right under me. I thought "Don't fall now!" so of course I did. Right on top of it. I looked down while I was in the water to see what she'd do, and she did an extreme head bend in both directions--probably checking her six to see WTF was after her. Needless to say I got back on board really quickly, though if you've ever seen one jumping after a Popio you know that's of marginal value.

Cool video, you can see the ampullae of Lorenzini very clearly. That looks like fun. Beautiful animals.

So don't know what a Popio is but sharks give me the willies. So far no Killer Whales have ever attacked a kayaker but they make me nervous too when I amnear them in anything but  20 foot boat at least :) (Alaska).  :-)

I've seen previous renditions the new V3. The first being a prototype scott trudon used during this past Olukai race, several EPS customs, and a version with a really pointy nose.

Can u elaborate more on the V3 you tested? Pics?

I recall reading that that's the type of fish Bob Marley shot.

Very fast--about 30mph, but they're riding the pressure wave--surfing on the bottom of the wake. Or the top, if you're an Orca. As always, I can't help but think it's a good thing these guys are friendly. As smart as they are they'd be a horrid enemy. We kill them but they generally don't kill us. What's with that?

Most people who spend time in Puget sound and zone north have lots of Orca stories. They are friendly and as curious as cats. They are also big, fast, smart and unquestionably the apex predator of the ocean. Great whites are a tasty snack for them.
