Bumper sticker - "Take your SUP out of the local lineup "
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:14:30 PM »
Good surf today . Hope you got some. A friend found a pro made bumper sticker with the above on it under his windshield wiper when he came in. This was at a spot between Rincon and Pitas Pt.  He texted me after he found it. Asked if I knew anything.  Dunno.........

Change the of to a to and its gold. Other than that it's kind of sadly dumb. All that sitting around waiting for something to happen has probably not been good for their little brains.

Joke them if they can't take a f#$

Probably a year ago, there were lots of anti sup stickers and graffiti around L41 in Santa Cruz, even at SUP friendly Privates.  It seems to have died down a lot, they have mostly been removed and nobody seems to be replacing them like they used to.

Kinda funny because little rincon is almost always bone dry empty of anyone, and the only way to get up the point is a decently long paddle, clearly a perfect sup spot on most NW swells.

SUP for proners is like grief (stage wise).  Most are stuck in stage 3.  Those of use who have made the move are happily in 7.  I'll be the first to admit, when I saw a SUP catch everything and I was struggling and scrapping for junk leftover waves, you couldn't help but think..."hey, gotta try that some day."

1. shock and denial,
2. pain and grief,
3. anger and bargaining (and snarky stickers),
4. depression,
5. the upward turn,
6. reconstruction,
7. acceptance and hope (and a ridiculously high wave count).

Get him to scan it or take a pic and I'll get them printed with Pono's edit.

Nothing would make them more bummed than seeing that on a car.

I'm not kidding.

123stickers.com and $25 and you're in business.

if he SUPs like he kites, it's no wonder he had that on his car. I'm sure he thought he was all alone. Thats the way he usually rides with a kite and a SUP.

What proners need to realize is that eventually they will ALL be SUPing. At some point it's either don't surf or take up SUPing. The bod can only pop up for so long. Then the question is do you want to ride a longboard or a shorter, more performance oriented SUP. If their decision is longboarding then it's a matter of time before THAT is also out of the question. As the Bear said in Big Wednesday "Nobody surfs forever".
BUT we can SUP pretty much forever.
