GoPro Remote won't charge

Yesterday, it was working fine.  Even after I fell in, the remote still worked.  Today I plugged it in to charge.  Nothing happens.  The remote manual doesn't have any trouble shooting hints.  And a quick search on the internet didn't show results for this problem. 
This remote is about one year old.
What might be the problem?  What can I do to correct it?

I have had two of these crap out on me, they need improvement.  For charging, try scraping the contacts with a knife as saltwater will corrode the contacts, that worked for me for a while.

Same issue here, also scrape the contacts on the cable and push the cable contacts in all the way a few times (not sure why, but it seems to help).
