Gonzalo Swell
« on: October 26, 2014, 10:02:38 AM »
Surfed it three different days on six different boards here in New Jersey. Only one short session on my Vibe as a devil wind came up STRONG and cleared out the lineup. A kiteboarder hit it shortly afterwards and I'm def regretting not capturing some video of him. Surfed almost the whole swell prone.

Glad you had it good.  It was kind of fart in a whirlwind for us in FL.  I liked one day.

Nice video. Your SUP segment had a "fake" look to it, perhaps because of the relative stability of the board. Looked like Frankie Avalon in some beach blanket movie surfing a twelve foot wave without getting his hair wet.

Thanx Pono, Max, and J for checkin' out my vid. I went prone for a coupla reasons. First day I was warming up on my 6'6" quad fish for our local LBI surf contest(Clam Jam). It was the 8th Annual and I've competed in all but the first one. It's No SUPs Allowed! I bold it up cuz on the entry form it's in bold font.  ;D. I hit it on sup after about a two hour sesh on the fish. The next day was the competition and and I surfed my fish and my 6'6" Lost Shark. Went three rounds so I was def happy, I'm one of the oldest competitors at 56. After elim I hit a different break on my longboard. It was a little crowded so I left the sup racked up. It woulda been nice to challenge it on sup but the longboard worked nicely and I scored one REAL nice wave, prob my biggest the whole swell. Last day of the swell the offshores were pretty stiff and sup woulda been a struggle. One of our top sup surfers here gave it a go on a 7'6" Door and he had a hard time. I thought he shoulda picked a different board.

I was in Deal on Saturday - it was pretty packed but a lot of fun. I stayed away from the main peak and got some of the other waves further down the beach. Managed to get one of the larger set waves but go my ass handed to me when it closed out and I actually landed on my side bite and cracked it in half.  Thankfully only a bruised rear end/ego...  All worth it though.  Hopefully the drop in temps will start thinning out the crowds.
