Paddle Jacket and Pants Recommendations
« on: October 23, 2014, 11:09:31 AM »
Starting to get turn colder during my sunrise paddles and it's got me thinking I need to get some winter attire.  Love to know what people are using and recommend.

Mind you, this is Santa Barbara so generally the coldest it typically gets on a winter morning would still be in the 40s with water temps in the 50s.  I don't need what any of you tough guys in NE would use.  I'm not in the water much, but would like something that wouldn't be a problem for that one time every couple months when I got wet.  Definitely needs a front zipper as it can warm up quickly when the sun rises during my workout.

Here's a few that caught my eye during a quick search:

Looks like more deluxe stuff here at SUPreme:

Love to know what you guys are using.  Thanks!

I use the Hybrid, its nice and thin, adds plenty of warmth but doesn't overheat you while paddling. Also very comfortable as a warm up paddle jacket.

Flat water I use an old Lotus splash jacket and light pile.  Surfing (it's FL) I use a 3/2 until the water temp hits 59.  Then I'm in heavier rubber.   I'm popping for a dry suit soon to get me back on winter whitewater in the Appalachians and Feb storm surf.

I like the O'Neill Breeze Breaker SUP Jacket.  I've used it for several years.  Remember, I'm paddling only, even if I do launch thru the surf.

I've been using the O'Neill Breeze Breaker, as well.  It works great for cool morning flatwater workouts and also as a boat jacket.

I'm a NE "tough guy" that goes to Cali for part of the winter and I LOVE the SUPreme Reach Jacket and the Longjohn. I've been using mine (ALOT) for 3 years and it is comfortable and Easy to adjust for the weather
Plus with your ZONER discount both piece TOTAL for less than $275

I use them seperately in the surf on warm days. So they get a lot of use work great for very little $$

Thin wind breaker and nylon wind pants help alot, especailly over a coiuple of wicking layers on top, and neoprene pants.  Really adds some protection from convection wind.
