Need info on Perth WA
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:15:33 AM »
If anyone lives in Perth, could they PM me for some info questions about places to stay.  My son and grandson are going (grandson is competing)  on Jan 19-24 2015 for swim meet at HBF Stadium, next to Bold Park and just north of Mount Claremount.  Thanks.

That's funny, I thought you were talking about Perth, Washington (WA) and I've never heard of it. I suggest you post this on Seabreeze if you haven't already.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

PM sent.

Good time of the year for DW paddling as well.

You may be spoilt from Maui though, it is a bit side shore here unless you drive to Mandurah.

See https://supwa.tidyclub.com/public/events/1102-2014-stand-up-surf-shop-king-of-the-cut for the best run close to Perth.

Thanks so much Hilly.

Heard the Rootnest Island run is awesome.  I did some w'srfing near MR awhile back and know that the wind really blows.

Sharks can't be any worse than here.  Seems like one every day now... so far just board bites.  Strange huh?

Anywhere around Cottesloe is about as good as it will get in Perth (although I am biased). This will be about a 10-15 minute drive to the pool in Claremont. Re paddling I think Perth is in the top handful of windyiest and sharkiest cities in the world so hopefully you'll get some fun paddling in.

Cheers

I lived in Perth in 1985-86 coaching lacrosse after college. Great undiscovered city at the time but was about to be exposed thanks to the America's Cup.   There was plenty of development in the works and  I am sure it is a different place these days, but loved my time there.  surfed plenty at the city beaches of Cottlesloe, Scarborough and Trigg  and whenever we had a car we would head north to Lancelin.  Also surfed Margaret River to the south one of WA and Australia's best breaks.  Plenty of surf breaks if you drive a bit...it was very Sharky, but seems even more so now from what I read in the news...

At the time the surf crowds were mellow and not too crowdd, but I am sure that  isn't the case now.  This was years before SUP craze, but I can imagine SUP is popular in and around the city beaches  on the Swan River.

If not downtown Perth, I really enjoyed living in South Perth on Swan River, Freemantle is another good town .

I am sure the are some Aussies who can chime in hear who know it better and are more up to date.   They are going to love it

It's a wonderful city that most people don't get a chance to visit as most travel to Sydney and Melbourne....
