Finishing the BOP distance race
« on: October 19, 2014, 02:29:17 PM »
Pretty happy boy. Happy to still have a one-piece board. A friend here in Hood River pointed these out to me.

Okay, this is the year I loose that gut. On the plus side, the arms and shoulders are finally coming along after the surgery. For a while my bicep looked like a deflated balloon.

Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Your smile says it all Bill, way to go.
BTW, is that your modified Camelbak vest? I recall you had some ideas for it.

It ain't over until the fat board sinks....

No, that's a camelback Baja with a busted waist buckle. It was one of the many things I sacrificed to the first set wave on the way out. You also note I don't have a hat or an ankle brace. That vast expanse of pink doesn't do well in direct sun.

The smile means "Yay! I didn't die!" though if you look at the slope of what's behind me you might think the jury is still out at that point. I dropped to my knees to pull out and avoid hitting two guys on 14's at the end of the first sleigh-ride over the outer reef, then popped (wobbled) up in my geezer fashion and rode the one behind me in. Once the waves hit the shallow water they crumbled down pretty quickly, though you might note in the second picture where the foot steering tiller (the black thing on the deck) is on the Bullet and where my feet are. There isn't any board left aft of where I am. Got a bit of bow in that paddle and the nose is still trying hard to come down.

You Pono boys look like you are made of muscle and gristle, along with the Viking war yell.  You could probably drop out of an airplane without a parachute, bounce, dust yourself off and go about your business.

Me, I bleed if you look at me funny.  I have to be careful trying to keep up with guys like you, if I tried it, I could be in traction.
