Seriously, If I was in a group of people who wanted to ban SUP at my local surf break, I would show the city council, or the powers to be, a copy of that video.

It is a lawsuit against a city waiting to happen.

Agreeing again here just so I'm sure not to miss a chance to rile people up. ;D

Not saying people need to spend their lives looking over their shoulders wondering what reaction haters are going to have, not saying agreeing with it is the same as saying the BOP should be somewhere else, not saying the conditions didn't add excitement...  But since surfing and the BOP both happen in publicly-owned locations, haters do have some ability to interfere with standup surfers and races, so it only makes sense to acknowledge that the videos will be used that way.  It always makes sense to understand and anticipate what the other side is going to be doing.

Yeah, the first thing I thought of is that every crash video ever shot could theoretically be used the same way. warren Miller was certainly responsible for banning skiing, and Bruce Brown completely destroyed motorcycling. Lawsuit a against a city waiting to happen? Because someone compiled a crash video? Take a breath. Think calm thoughts. Maybe try a little yoga.

All these talk about banning SUP due to them(prone surfers) not catching waves is retarded.

If that is the case I want no one out at the line up to ride anything bigger than 6'0

If you can't beat the crowd than you join the crowd. That's what I did. I don't mind shortboarding. I just hate the longboarders with their gigantic log that they float on top of. If they are riding something bigger than 9'0, why don't they just grab a paddle and start doing things standing up? Oh, judging by their stance and ride, they suck at balancing, so therefore no SUP for them.

I think we would love to see haters bring that to the local regulators.....then it would allow us to elaborate on the difference between the BOP as a race event and SUS, show SUP surfing vs. surfing, show the $$$'s brought into the local economy vs. the local surfers for those couple of days and basically show that it's a bunch of folks that just want something all to themselves that are bringing disingenuous and hypocritical arguments to try and prove their point.

Bring it on haters......the harder you try the stupider you look.
