Places to surf within 2 hours of Boston
« on: September 25, 2014, 11:36:17 AM »
You east coast guys are in for a treat.  My good friend Abby (slamming hot bod and super friendly) is leaving So. Cal. for Boston.  She wanted to know where are places to surf within 2 hours of Beantown.

All of them  ;D

1.5 hrs to Cape Cod, or R.I
1 hr to NH
2 hrs will get you pretty deep into Maine's hot spots
Covers all possible surf potential.

I am available for duties as a tour guide...... Really ;D

When's she coming?

Is she going to live downtown? Neighborhood? Suburbs? The city itself acts somewhat like a fence, only because it can be a pain to get through in traffic. Folks tend to stay closer to home. I think south of the city offers easier access to more frequent surf, Cape and RI.

North of Boston..Hampton Beach, NH and York Beach, Maine are under two hrs and both offer plenty of coast line and relatively uncrowded surf.

it's funny, i've never seen a female SUPer w/a 'slamming hot bod' take any crap from the proners like some of us guys do...i wonder why?  ::)

But yeah, go south, young lady. Cape, RI...unless you love wetsuits yr round, then go north.

I prone surfed in head high waves with Abby this morning and she's looking forward to surfing the east coast.  Her new hometown is Somerville.

I grew up across the river in Allston (spookini just moved from there) and worked next door in Cambridge for years. A good friend is a fire fighter in Somerville. She won't have easy access from there but she can go either north or south.

Nahant beach is only about a half hour away with no traffic, and Nantasket in Hull is an hour away. Pretty decent if you want a quick session close to the city.

Funny...I've never surfed Nahant....practically lived there on summer days as a little kid. I've seen some great pics of former zoner Tree ripping it apart.

Nahant is a great SUP wave and there's a SUP shop nearby.  But driving through Revere/Lynn is a mess, and parking closures at the beach the past few seasons was consistently clusterf*ck-erific.

On the positive side, soon there will be a casino in the area.
Which should ease traffic considerably  ::)...

Firstly; recommend living outside the city either north or south and closer to spots.

<1hr (traffic dependent):
Winthrop & Nahant to the North
Hull, Scituate to the South

>1hr:
NH/ME to the North
CC/RI to the South

Any surf app like MSW or Surfline will name spots where she can start until getting to know some folks who will open up about others.
