Maine goes off again
« on: September 22, 2014, 11:46:27 AM »
what a way to start the week….Super fun surf today at York Beach, 4-6 ft with larger set waves.  Barrels galore being held up beautifully by the strong off shore winds. I lasted about 3 hrs until the 30 mph gusts were much too much to handle.
I think this swell caught most off guard as only a handful of people out…
Still pumping as I type this.. Maybe an afternoon session..sorry for the poor equality photo but I have an older iPhone….

Just a tad smaller down here (Jersey Shore) 3-5' this morning, some head high + sets. Already diminished to waist high this afternoon.

Some big surf in RI.   I picked a site that would get some wind,  which I figured was a 50/50 proposition.   Ended up sailing the sup all day.   Early am was biggest surf and it looked a little angry so I kept to an easier spot with 3-5ft waves.   Eventually sailed the main break,    GOOD stuff!    B&W shot was in the am before I went out.   2nd shot of my friend windsurfing after I was done.

Enjoying all the great photos :). So far most of the hurricane swells
haven't made it to the depths of the bay of biscay.  Eduard's swell
arrived in the dark of night and was gone by morning.

My brother's got a vacation house by Brayton Pt., too bad he
doesn't surf.  Maybe when I retire, an autumn house sit might
be in order.

Just N of you yesterday AM and this AM clean waist high and plus sets! The wind was much less difficult this morning and just one other guy and later on, a boogie boarder was all the company I had.

Could grab any wave you want from way outside and ride all the way into the river....as perfect as it could be  ;D

I've had so many quality sessions since end of August.....way too many hours to count! More than made up for my lousy July disabled list w/arm injury.

Feels Great! ;D

We had the best swell of the year here yesterday afternoon.  Very big waves, offshore winds in mid 20s.  The water got cold again.  Weird how hyped last week's swell was and ended up being only so-so, and this comes out of nowhere and is off the hook.

AKE G the river mouth must have been the call this AM as York was nothing much after yesterday….  what a difference a day makes.  I agree that Aug and Sept have made up for the lousy summer surf.

Raf, the surf was GREAT yesterday, much bigger than the hurricane swell and holding up with long carvable faces  thanks to that brutal west wind.  Paddling back out I scrambled up the face of a feathering wave that had to be double over head and with the spray coming off the lip looked even bigger.  When I first paddled out at 10 am it was waist high and clean, by the time I left after 1 it had built to 4 times that and the wind howling.  I never saw a swell build so quickly

NJ went OFF on 9/22! "Committed" was my first wave early morning and it FIRED all day. btw- I did these collages/edits on fotor.com. Free cloud based editor.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Are you kidding me! :P    Thanks for that, I only imagined what the potential
could be.

A few years still but being we're all trying to keep to water and primal plates,  ;)
no worries.  You more than welcome.

Nice shots, autumn treats!  Something up with the usual storm tracks.  Not much
of these swells are reaching us, or passing quick in the night.  Finally the swells are
arriving and the circus, ala quikpro is camped out at the best break.
