I have broken 8 prone boards ... and seen more than a few Naish's snapped here as well.

Like Bean said... boards snap if hit right.

Nacho.... dude... you are pretty tough on your boards  ;)... you better go to the "Board Lady" site and study up on how to put a board back together.... very doable.
Your's looks like a nice clean break that should fix very well.

It's hard to break a board in mush, though it happens at Kanaha pretty regularly. It's easy to break a board in a pitching wave that's breaking top to bottom. I broke a Naish windsurfer in a pitching wave, and they make surfboards look like cardboard cutouts.

But really, if you happen upon just the right set of circumstances any board will break.

That really is a repairable break. Nice and clean. wouldn't be hard to make it nearly as strong as new and not a whole lot heavier.

A friend of mine broke his board in 3' surf a few years ago.  It was only belly high but it was punchy and hollow that day.  Must have been just the right circumstances.  Sorry it happened to that beautiful Naish.

The simple solution is that you're prohibited from surfing in high heels from now on.  ;)

hope you had another board with you! sound like nice conditions.

i once found a hairline crack on the bottom of a long proner board, across the board, perpendicular to its length. I thought someone had over-torqued roof straps. repair guy asked if i did floaters ever, and said he sees stress/buckle cracks all the time on bottom of longer baords used for floaters. i land em clumsily at best, so that made sense. unfortunately the repair sucked. guy must not have used enough hardener in epoxy top coat--still sticky after years, picks up sand has to be scrubbed to smooth with a green pad.

given that, any suggestion on how to deal with sticky repair area? i thought to just spray it with epoxy paint, feather/sand edges, but worry it'll be a mess, on top of sticky uncured epoxy. and I dont ride it often--too much fun on my wp, and gotta keep pushing to wire my S3

I would guess that your longboard is traditional polyester/fiberglass construction and the repair was performed with laminating glass which will remain sticky for ever.  In which case, you could simply sand it clean, and put a hot coat over it.

If it's not hard enough to sand, there are probably issues with the resin and you might just want to re-do the repair.  But before you do, try scraping down in one spot to see if the bad resin is just on the surface.  Maybe just a failed hot coat or gloss coat.  Do you know for sure if the board is poly or epoxy?

it's def epoxy--my first sup, the walden 10'11" magic--kids/guests ride it out front my house on flatwater, so i dont care much--not enough to redo the shltty repair. this winter ill try to sand when cold, and then spray with krylon.
