2013 Starboard Ace Cracked while paddling normally

Today I was standing up and paddling as usual on flat water, and my just over 1 year old starboard ACE 14x 25 AST that I purchased directly from Starboard started cracking like an eggshell, right in front of my foot (in front of the pad). Has this happened to anyone else? It is too bad they only have a 1 year warranty for an expensive board, when stuff like this happens that is totally not the fault of the user.

They might have sanded it too thin at the transition, or it wasn't a good lap in the first place. Structurally it's a weak spot. The vertical side on the foot well is very rigid, but the standing deck area flexes. The point where flex meets the stiff, you're going to have problems unless it's well reinforced.

I'd contact them and see what they do. I wouldn't assume they'd just dodge what might be a common problem, or at least one that they understand is not a matter of abuse. That will be a bitch to repair well.
