Latest Fin to test...

Another version of the Allison. Guy Takiyama GT
Looks Rad..

Not the best conditions for testing..but seemed stiff..

Will try it again when there is some real Surf...
great fins-when not using the half moon keels i use these also for twins but moslty use them in quad setup

Yours has a much smaller base..
I think they might work good on the Production Phoenix.

I'll see if I can get a set..

I rode the 8'0" today in ankle to knee waves and loved it. Zero learning curve coming from a 9'0" X 29.5" board.

It took a couple of waves to figure out surfing it off of the tail, but I got it quickly. I was also really surprised at how well it trimmed. It was like a longboard and I imagine that nose riding would be easy as well.

I could probably be really happy on the 7'6" at my size. I have to say that I now believe the hype. For 90% of the waves I ride, a Simmons SUP would be a go to board.

Ralph, I need you to talk me out of buying one. ;)

You will get the hang of the Sub 8 Sim very quickly.

With the parallel rails and wide tail it is pretty darned stable..

I will set you up....

Today I tried the Parabolics backwards..

It seemed to me that if I could change the pivot point the board would
be more reactive off the top and on turns..

Tried the Red Ones First (smaller Chill)...Wow.. really lively..don't need to put my foot way back to turn. Pops off the top and lays back...Almost lost it a couple times (fin slip)..

Tried the regular Grey fins (larger), not as lively..I think something in between...

For sure I like the smaller red ones... as long as I don't get to aggressive...

Here's the fin set up I have been using for the past month.  FCS Compressor fronts, flat foil, approx 36 sq in total area.  6 degree cant on heel side, 4 degree on front side.  Super loose, tight arc turns and tail slides out nicely when desired (and sometimes when not desired).

Home Break: Doheny
Tic Tac v3 (Hoglet): 6' 6" x 23" x 3.6" x 67L
Omni: 6' 9" x 23" x 3.75" x 68L
Tic Tac (OG): 7' 0" x 22.75" x 3.5" x 70L
In The Pink (Incoming): 8' 0" x 22.9" x 3.25" x 70L

Blackproject Surge S77 (Soft Flex Shaft, T-Grip, +0" OH)

Sup-position - Do those half-moon looking keels have a conventional foil where the leading edge is thicker? I'm asking because if they do, then how could they work being placed backwards?

I have been running the LA GTs for the last 3 weeks.  +6 (toe) and +8 (heel) cant loosened it up nicely but it is a big fin (~31 sq in per fin) and I have not been able to get it as loose as I like.  It's a good fin for smooth, flowing surfing.

I am going to try the FCS MR-TX next.  Similar to the Compressor fronts but with slightly more area (~17% more).   Hoping they are as fun as the Compressor fronts with a bit more hold.
