I've been using the LA parabolic keels (approx 10.13" base x 4.75" depth) with 4 degree inserts and like it a lot.

Today I tried 8 degree insert on the backside and 6 degree on the front and did not like it as much.  The board was definitely looser but I lost a lot of speed down the line.  I mainly surf DOHO (slow waves) so speed is very important.

Omni: 6' 9" x 23" x 3.75" x 68L

In The Pink (Incoming): 8' 0" x 22.9" x 3.25" x 70L

Do the Phoenix boards have much tail rocker?  Or, are they pretty flat in the back?

Pretty flat, to generate speed..and catch waves.

The V2 has a fuller nose and tail so offers more stability.  I have not felt under finned on my V2 twin fin set up, in up to head high waves.  But just overhead and you definitly feel the slip.

Not improved, just different performance characteristics.   For instance, the V2 will be faster in smaller mushier waves (because it will plane at lower speeds).  I see the V3 as a tweener board for times when you can give up a little speed to get a little more maneuverability.  But, at that point you might be considering a performance board like Infinity's Blurr or JL, Stun Gun.  It all depends on how you like to surf and the conditions.

+1.  I have been trying various fin set ups on my V2 w/ quad boxes and so far my favorite is the standard parabolic twin fins (approx 10" base by 4-7/8" tall) with 4 degree inserts.  I have not had any issue with being under finned in waves head high or smaller.  The Phoenix shines in smaller, less powerful surf.

Twin works Killer on the right waves..
Too steep and fast is problematic with the fins so far back,
But that might be problematic for most on any board..

I was thinking I should have brought it to Salt Creek since that wave
has a bit of slope. Super Carvy.

This Guy Takiyama Fin is the best I've tried so far..
I didn't have to think about it, so I say it is working...
reacts well..

Nice steep pitchy pockets and ramps.
Hits the lip harder and re-enters better than the parabolics and the raked fin.
The difference is that the pivot of the Takiyama is pushed forward thus increasing the dynamics
to the board.
