« on: September 03, 2014, 08:26:15 PM »
Sidewinder 8'3x29.5x3.25 Bat Tail 103L 15.2lbs (without full pad but with stomp pad).  Flat deck with step-down rail, super thin rail and fun rocker.

Dave done an amazing job with the shaping.  Buck ... awesome artwork.  Rhonda ... thank you for the fine details.

MrBig ... sorry for giving you the wrong spec.

Cool water Bubble Gum is not working out good.  It felt a bit oily.

I took her out to Bolsa this morning in soft 1 to 3 fun waves.  At 102L the board felt just right, not floaty and also don't have that sinking feeling.  Water just cascading over the board.  It paddled with ease both getting to the wave and into the wave.  I think it will be much better in steeper wave.  Once on the wave, it was easy to carve due to the super thin rail and being only 15lbs.

Going back out later today in choppy water to get used to the board.

Anyone else still do a tropical (hard-wax) base coat first?  I find it helps keep the softer cool water wax in place.  That's one great thing about wax, it's never too late to try something different.

I've always used the Sticky Bumps base wax (very hard) first and then a light dusting of something else.  I've never liked too much traction.

Could you post height and weight? This is a really sweet board.

Me 5'7 and 140.6lbs ... 50 yrs old.  When out SUS'ing or pronning (long or short board), brain telling me to rip it up ... body then punished me afterward.

I found the stickiest wax at the local shop but at $4 a bar ... ouch!

That's two to four times the cost of most surf wax but its still only 4 bucks.  The cost of a small ice cream cone...I still use SexWax.

I love the the look.  It reminds me of Neil Pryde.

No deck pad would do that justice.

Thank you ... but sadly I'm adding traction pad as wax is too slippy when paddling aggressively chasing the oncoming wave.

Just out front of the house having fun in small beach break.  The thin rail really helped with setting the board up for trimming down the face and down the line.

Sweet wave ridden by a sweet looking board, Rat.  Did you make that section in front of you, or did it close out?

Can't remember but I don't think it closed out.  I think I drove down the line then kicked out because I'm currently practicing kicking out of the wave without falling.
