Truly loved the going over the falls in slow motion part of this video.  That is so awesome.  I still laugh at the memory of seeing my older brother going over the falls backward while sitting on his longboard - that was savage!  That was also his last day of surfing...

I have survived sizeable Wedge but cannot claim to have done anything on that wave.  I am always so impressed to see people working that wave and actually making it.  Myself...just free fell, rolled up and down on the beach and crawled out.  But hey - I survived a really big day so at least I got that going for me...

To some degree the wedge isn't so much about skill as it is about balls and comfort in situations where control is minimal. It's kind of an autopilot thing--it works or it doesn't.

I've seen the dry sand in front of me far too many times. Even weenie places like Windandsea can dish out a full plate of sandburger. Baldwin beach in Maui is a good place to chow down too. I nearly broke my neck there several times. And I'm really good at the feet first bailout.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Conditions look like they must induce ozone madness.  That there aren't more crunches seems miraculous. I can see why they might not want the surf boards around there, though.

That last video looks like it was taken at high tide. Does the blackball include boogie boards now?

The guy with the hand plane was killing it. Makes me want to bodysurf, though I certainly shouldn't. No certainty that my limbs wouldn't just come right off.

The jetty was just full-on flooded. On small days and lower tides there's a nice little bowl in there and a rip that works like a conveyor belt. And I see the catcher's mitt to surfer's left is still working just fine. Boom--your ride is over, buckwheat.

Some answers for PB.
On 8/27 high tide at the Wedge was 10:58 A.M.
Blackball regulations:  Floatation Devices--surfboards, bodyboards, skimboards are prohibited at the Wedge from 10-5, from 5/1 to 10/31.
