Possible to unglue sup paddle?
« on: August 28, 2014, 02:15:04 PM »
Got a new paddle last week. Guestimated the height vs my old paddle. When I got home I realized it was a good 3" taller than my old paddle. Is there a way to unglue a paddle?

If hot glue was used you can warm up the fitting with steam and pull the blade (or handle) off.  Cut, then re glue.

I'd just dip the handle in a big pot of boiling water for about a minute or two.. and the try and twist it off..

Maybe even have someone stand on the blade end while you twist the handle.

Even 5 minute epoxy can be softened enough to be pulled apart with a heat gun. Use your brains when warming up paddle, keep the gun a few inches away and on 1/2 max setting.Iit should take 5-15minutes to gradually heat it up, then start trying to twist it. Once it starts to move a little you're home free.

On second thought i think jim terrel put a video out that showed all this?
