Newbie question
« on: August 23, 2014, 05:39:30 PM »
I've only had my board for about a month new, I got a deal on a 12'6 Bic Wing limited board. (displacement) My wife insisted on a Bic Ace Tec that's more an all around. We do mostly flatwater touring and obviously she gets tired real quick. Me on the other hand I also like her Board to go out in the Gulf when the wind kicks up and play in the waves. Her no fun. My question is do you think it's worth the time to make a lightweight piece to go under the front of her board to make it more displacement style? I"ve worked in the auto body industry for 20 plus years so I'm very familiar with fabricating and glassing parts. Think it may be cool to have a convertable board for people that don't have the cash or storage for multiple boards.

Mickey Munoz made one for his all-around board. His is kind of narrow, and actually screws on to the front of his board. It fits over the top and bottom like a nose cone. The bottom has a sort of displacement line to it. It also makes his 11' into a 12'-6"? Something like that. Go for it. I'd like to see what you come up with.
It's not overhead to me!

Maybe even patent it if it works well.

Pretty intersting idea. A nose extension....
Or would you call it a strap-on?

Interesting idea. If the time and money spent is less than $700 (the bare minimum for a new board) then it's a worthwhile experiment. Who knows, you might revolutionize the sport.
