Doheney As Big As It Gets...?

http://youtu.be/XLrZRJuxM-8

Let's keep things in perspective. Doheny is a mushy little beginner break 95% of the time. Surfline 1' to 2' ankle slappers. Overhead is a rare, but fun. Double OH is unheard of. Breaking out in the harbor mouth, I can't remember seeing that in the 45 years I've lived here. You can't compare Waikiki to Pipe.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Went to San Gabriel River to meet Scott Rose (Brennen's Dad)

We surfed the inside of the Harbor.
Very cool....but after our text this morning, I was sure you were gonna go see Mr. Brooks.   ;) :)

Had a couple bros say they were going to the Jetty.
Don't get that wave very often..
And close to home.

The word was that it was firing yesterday at the right tide..

Seemed that a couple Battle of the Paddles had waves in that range..
Maybe not breaking out that far..

Big Pete Hughes showed up at Seal today..was good to see him,..

Waves have not been in that range as far back as I can remember. I've done the BOP five years now.  4' to 5' is the biggest it's ever been at the BOP. The outside sets on Wednesday where 8' to 10' +. I wouldn't even attempt that on my 14' race board. I doubt they would even run the BOP if it were that size. I mean maybe a field of 20 top elite racers, but it would be who finishes with a board, not who finishes 1st. It takes a strong south swell too even get anything going at DoHo. Wednesday was just so rare.

Your post definitely show the better perspective than the video..
Boards snapping at Doho ! ! !

Hanging with the old timers at the Doheny lookout this morning, and they agreed it's the biggest they've ever seen. It was breaking at the harbor mouth. Crazy........

There are reefs breaking that I can remember ever seeing in the 45+ years I've lived here.

i surfed doheny a number of times mostly 1-2 easy peeling and the sorta secret left seems like everyone goes right  there, A number of years back I was riding an infiniti cluster so it must have been 15-17 years back.  The wave was  about 3-5 foot faces so maybe a 3 foot wave  it was pitching. I had just gotten out  and this guy walks by with a brand new infiniti that  was broken in half.  The waves were  sounding like cannons when they  broke.   It was much faster than it looked in these videos. I remember i quite clearly   because i was paddling out for a set and caught my  fin on  the inner rock. thought i was gonna get hammered.   but faces weren't any bigger than  5 feet max.
SEA BIRDS THEY DO TOUCH AND GO AS THE WORLD JUST TANGOES BY.... SO I SADDLE UP MY SEAHORSE WITH MY FLYROD IN MY HAND.... 10'3 King custom  10'6"  c4 da beachboy

The waves today in HB were disorganized and not quite doing it.
Best at lowest tide, then became back washy.
The Bottom is really messed up from this one..
About a 5' gouge in the beach where all the sand got sucked out..

Party Over....
