Could Be a Couple Big Ones...
« on: August 21, 2014, 05:38:22 AM »
Storm Track is Looking Very Interesting...for the next Week.

Looks like there will be some significant swells generated from possibly 2 storms
Pointing towards the Southern Coast of California and Baja.

Monuments (Baja) 21'-26' Medium Interval...that will be a 'kicker...

Just got home from SUS'ing Bolsa.  Waves were in the head high plus on the sets (between 6:30 and 8 a.m.).  Mostly freight train left with good northerly drift.  Rode waves from jetty to Tower 17, get out of water, walked south to jetty and paddled back out.  Caught only four waves the entire 1.5 hrs session.  Bolsa is going to be tough tomorrow when the swell peaked.

Surfed my spot
Solid 4' swell. Several feet over head faces.
Had a few super long ones well over 100 Yards...
Current not too bad on the outside..
On the inside it is churning....
Kinda Wonky and crumbly.
I'll bet some reefs are going off at lower tide...

A lot of watchers..One I-phone video so far...this was a short one...blurry
But you'll get the idea..

Here is a picture of my buddy Aki on a set wave.
Solid 4' Swell.
Look at the shadow under his board to find the wave height..
Picture taken at 8:53 Am...
He got caught inside and snapped his Firewire...

Ut ohh something behind it...

The current disturbance SSE of Acapulco is potentially a pretty good size hurricane ... appropriately designated as "Marie" for the 2014 Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season.

DoHo firing today. Even the outer reef.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Had some Long Lined Up Waves first thing;
when the tide was still on the low side of mid tide.
Mostly head to several feet over head.

Medium interval swell and wind swelly...

The tide really killed it around 9 Am

Hey Talldude how much fun was that?

A guy in an OC1 was catching glides on the inside of the Corona Jetty this morning.  He was hollering after each ride.  It was fun to watch.  I was on my 12'6"  Starboard.  I didn't feel very stable, as the swell was bouncing off the seawall and coming down the entrance at the same time.  Fun tho.

Hey Ralph,
I'm doing the vicarious surfing right now. My cutup big toe is still healing up from tearing it up while surfing church last weekend. I thought about wrapping it up good, but it hurts pretty bad to put pressure on it. If the swell holds tomorrow, I'll probably suck it up, and get out there.

Buddies were out today up here. Head high and overhead late afternoon. I think I'd better investigate tomorrow.
