Last year a drunk guy staggered over while we were getting ready to do a shorty southside downwinder, launching from Kalama Park and going to Makenna. the guy was almost incomprehensible, but he was actually giving us some good advice about the currents and wind. Kind of a surreal experience. I don't remember who I was with.

It was the group of us while I was there...actually kind of freaked me out...on one side I had Bill worried you were going to get me killed. Then a drunk is basically predicting our demise if we aren't careful......

One the full time guys by Blackies has actually stood in the road, so people can't drive past or get out of there spots to leave, yelling about something.  He is CRAZY or a good actor.  Not fun.

On separate occasions my wife, daughter and I have run into this guy on the boardwalk by Brookhurst. I don't think he's acting, yelling at most people passing by but throwing shakas to surfers.

Its funny, but a little less so when you realize how exploited this guy is.  Did the surfers get him drunk before they filmed this too, or did they just promise to buy him another 12-pack.  He's obviously not in a proper state of mind.

I have also seen this fat obnoxious drunk in Newport and once in HB. He has never said anything to me but I have heard him plenty of times yell obscenities to others.  He will stand in the road at Blackies and be a pest.  One call to NB Police and I am sure they will hall him away.  He is a perfect example of what not to become in life.

Drunks are so awesome. Once in the 80's this drunk came up to me and started laying all this trash down about the  gear I was using and were I was from, etc,etc and how bad he was going to mess me up, and that I better not even think of leaving the traffic pattern.... Bla,Bla, Bla.... But that was at the officers club at Miramar.

I doubt the surfers had anything to do with this guys state of intoxication. I'm guessing this drunk guy used to skim board, and actually thought he still could. Being butt hole surfers, they stand a good chance of winding up in this guys shoes some day.
