Homeless bums are hassling me about my SUP!

I am posting this mostly for the comedic value, but it's really weird.  The past few days I have put my AllWave on my bike trailer and ridden my bike around Newport and Huntington looking for the best and not too zooed waves to ride.  We have a bunch of homeless guys that hang around the area, especially near Blackies.  Three times now, as I have ridden past Newport Pier, I have had them ridicule me.  So strange.  These guys probably sleep under the pier and they are hassling me because I have a SUP!!  One was very drunk and tried to run into me, the others were just cat-calling me about my board.   I'm not too worried about it, but you have to admit, it's kinda strange.

Actually, I think they've got nothing else to do.

It is amazing to me that there are quite a few homeless in Newport,
the most visible being at Blackies/Newport Pier area.

You may be joking but I think that's actually what happens.  So many young slackers think they can be the next Kelly Slater and don't bother developing any useful skills.  Then, IMO, they grow up and hang out around Newport Pier.

I think this guy actually skim boarded at some point in his life. The way he's holding the board, his setup angle and timing were just about right. The execution was probably not how he remembers it? Sad but .......................................................................FUNNY!!!!!!

Last year a drunk guy staggered over while we were getting ready to do a shorty southside downwinder, launching from Kalama Park and going to Makenna. the guy was almost incomprehensible, but he was actually giving us some good advice about the currents and wind. Kind of a surreal experience. I don't remember who I was with.

One the full time guys by Blackies has actually stood in the road, so people can't drive past or get out of there spots to leave, yelling about something.  He is CRAZY or a good actor.  Not fun.
