I did the WAI KEKOA - WATER WARRIOR BEACH FESTIVAL last year on Camp Pendleton with some of those water features but most of the obstacle stuff was on the sand and it was really fun.  They had elite & age group classes and since it was around the time of the BOP there were a lot of pros in town.  I'll never forget watching Connor Baxter running up & down the 4" x 4" center beam of the rope ladder hands-free - sick!  The on-duty Marines were there to help out with any questions, board caddying, etc. and we had the bonus of being able to surf a seldom surfed spot on-base - if you had any energy left after your races.  It's on again this year Sept 13th: http://www.hardcorpsraceseries.com/waterwarrior/
