Do you have at least one twist on each exposed length of strap?

I just drove from Southborough, MA to RI at hi-way speeds with a 14' SIC on the roof with pads and straps. Made sure each exposed strap was twisted and had no noise issues at all. If even one section of strap is not twisted it will make one hellacious noise, even at slow speeds.

So I am on the road right now driving to so cal. I can not get rid of this crazy wind noise. I have twisted the straps to try stop the noise. Is there anything else I can do?

Turn up the radio.
I find that even with a twist in the strap you get a little bit of noise. It annoyed me when I first started hauling my SUP, but it's nothing compared to my husband's quasi-permanent kayak cradle. The Bowdown whistles…loudly.  :o
