Creek amazing review..so informative, so entertaining and as always some great surfing.  I was surprised at the width of the rails, but it seemed as though you had no problem throwing the board around.  Is it a lot looser than your All Wave?

You are definitely a man with  too much free time on your hands , and we are thankful for that!  ;D

Creek, that 2' mush looked a lot better than the 2' mush served over here in So Cal.  You Nor'Easters have your own wave scale like the Hawai'ians do?

Great review.  At about 3:50, you slowed down the film and broke some laws of physics in one of your turns. Wonderful view.

Great review Creek - really enjoyed the footage of you ripping.

I've been thinking about upgrading from my 8'10" Allwave for a little while. Though I love the board, I would like to get something with some more performance. I've been hearing great things about the Hobie Raw as well though I've heard from more than one person about fin box failures. One thing I really like about my Allwave is it's nose-riding capability which really makes it a great one-board quiver killer. Saw some fancy footwork in the video - can you comment about the nose-riding capability over your old 8'10" Allwave?

I think for the Prowave I'd likely be looking into a 9'3" and possibly an 8'10" (though I'd want to demo the smaller one first).  At 6'3", 190lbs that might be a bit tippy for me.

Cheers,

Dale

Hey Pabst.... the Allwave will let you hang 10, and do it with a solid feel
The Prowave has a mild concave right to the nose, so it is a very nice board to nose ride, but haven't felt that it is a "Tip" rider. No room at the tip except for 1 foot anyway, but it is plenty fun to run around on.

My 9'6 will be perfect for full winter gear and conditions, super stable, with great secondary stability.
I would like love to have a session on the 9'3.... I think it's a lot different, more than 20 liters less, narrower and I bet thinner rails.  I think it would be an awesome board. Much more performance than the 8'10 Allwave. I just got out from a 2' super mush session on the 9'6... had a blast. The 9'6 surfs better than the 8'10 Allwave for what I am looking for... hard turns and looser off the top.

The 8'11 RAW is as big as you want to go. Mine has a VERY pronounce concave under the front 3rd, it loves to be ridden on the nose, great walker.
I was not as happy with my 2014 RAW, so I called the Hobie factory, and they said that they had changed to a flat bottom nose this year, because it was better. I screamed into the phone "Nooooooo!" ???  but they wouldn't budge. So I can't vouch for the new version. See if you can demo one if you choose that direction.

I can ride a smaller RAW than Prowave... too bad... I'd like to do a head to head comp.

The RAW finbox is a detail. I'm about to rip out the box and replace it. The board is worth the effort. It's that good. I rode it the other day, as a twin fin, with the finbox taped over. I was way over doing everything.... I kept saying to myself.... easy big fella.... you don't have to work so hard to turn this thing.... especially as a twinny. So I kept doing stupid hard turns and blowing the session... but I was excited :o On the occasion that I kept it together, the board just makes me happy ;D

Come on out and try my boards.... Road Trip!!

supthecreek, this was a fantastic review.  Thanks for putting in the time.  This (and some of your other write-ups) have really helped me narrow down my current search.  If you have a minute, I'd love some of your insight.  You can see my post at:  http://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,25024.0.html
