« on: May 29, 2014, 03:10:06 PM »
i couldn't help myself it had to be tried a Vanguard styled 7'0 x 25"3/4 when drawing the out line it looked so big i keeped shrinking it more and more so lets hope it wasn't deceiving and i can stand on it. Only started shaping it today so a little more work yet to do but you get the idea.

That is the Bat Man board. Crazy.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

cool yea i quite fancied doing a blunt fish as well but this one came first, would love to see how yours turns out! cnc is moving on slowly just ordered all the electronics for it so hoping to make some faster progress soon.

those are some pretty small boards your ridding! unfortunately most of my boards get dictated by are choppy conditions i have finally got to the stage were im comfortable on my 7'4 x 28 fish in the wind and chop

Nice project CG, if it doesn't work as a sup for you, I'm sure I could use it as a shortboard.  ;)

Update with pics, Charlie? That's a very cool shape! I've a piece of foam that I've been drawing something near the same.  Your nose shape and those chines seem like a great idea. Didn't you say your waves are generally small and mushy mixed with a lot of chop? If so, that's basically what I have also, so I'm very interested to hear how she goes. I've been reluctant to go too short and narrow, but screw that, it's time.  At my age I never thought I'd get below 29" in width, even stated it here I believe, but with these more parallel rail designs I'm confident 27" is in the offing.  So I can't wait to hear about sub 26"! Ahh youth....I kind of remember it.  Updates Charlie, updates....us old guys have to live vicariously somehow!

Sorry i don't really have much to update on this one at the moment, i have actually been spending quite a bit of time paddling my 12'6 boof nose as it has been so flat at the moment the though of surfing has gone on the back burner for a bit, i still have the rails to just finnish shaping and then its reedy for glass, i will have to see if i can get round to it in the next week or two.

Yea we have a lot of weak and mushy waves which is why i started of building my fish 7'10 x 29 and 7'4 x 28 which go supper well and you could not tell they were any were near that wide on the wave, my 7'10 was always my largest board ( im 6'2 and 75kg) however recently my 7'4 has got a lot easer after going out in the choppy stuff to just improve my balance however this one i think will test me again. i think the trick is to just keep progressively getting smaller and going out in slight more challenging conditions even if its for a our or two at the start of a session your balance will soon improve.

Haha, well ok.  But thanks for reply. I got inspired and hot wired out a 7'4"x 27" this afternoon.  Guess I need to start a build thread.  I'm pretty much the same size as you, so it'll interesting to hear about your results. Thanks Charlie, keep the good work coming.

There is definitely something to this design, it sure looks funny, but surf's really well. 8-6 x 31 x 4

Great color, Charlie! So what's your fin placement gonna be like? And where? On my 7'3"x27" I agonized over it not really having any idea.  Seems to have worked out though. And will this board get a pad, or just wax?  Looks really nice! Can't wait to get a ride report.

fin placement will be similar to the fish i make as it is actually quite similar, i wil most probably put a pad on it as normal, i will get some more pics soon.
