I wonder how much blood in the water there would be in California if the surfer's at the main breaks would breach each other's territories like that.  Maybe surf "Ben Hur" with guys swinging barbed wire.

I did accidentally drop in on a kid two weeks ago and we rode the wave in together.  He was a nice guy and smiled the whole way.

Man, what I wouldn't give for some long rides like that!  Gotta find some points here in NH and up into Southern Maine.  The only ones I know about have a tight takeoff with room for just a few (usually proners when there is surf).  Probably be good to look for something a bit of a paddle away from shore.
