Good paddling around Key Biscayne?
« on: April 20, 2014, 08:15:29 AM »
I'm heading down to Miami for some work. Thought I'd bring my Astro Tourer. Can anyone recommend some good paddling in that area?

As long as the wind is down there is some great paddling in and around Virginia Key also at Crandon Beach, and off Rickenbacher causeway all on Key Biscayne.  You can also contact Ovideo over at Windsurfing Miami on Rickenbacher causeway.  He rents SUPs and could recommend other spots.
At the southern end of Key Biscayne at the lighthouse is a nice park and beach which is a nice spot too...
If you head over to Coral Gables, there is some nice scenic paddling at Matheson Hammock park.

You will be surrounded by calm water on Key Biscayne so the paddling possibilities are endless..
Hobie Raw 8'10"
Jimmy Lewis Kwad 8'7"
Naish Hover 95 liter 5'7"
F-One Rocket foil board 5'5" 90 liters
Fanatic Aero 1250, 1500, 1750 HA foils
CabrinhaMantis 3.5, 4m 5m. F-One Strike 7m CWC
Hobie 14' race board

Thanks for the info. I'll look up some of those places.

sup romer, Just a heads up...I posted the Part # etc for the pump I use to go from 15psi to 18-25 psi on the thread. Couple other posts and a new page started so I didn't want you to miss it.

Thanks I saw that. I'll go have a look at advanced when I get a chance. I was able to use my scrader/h3 adapter today at a local gas station. It took forever did save me some pumping.

Check the map. I usually park where the x is. Free to park and you get right in, paddle north and east under the bridge to KB. I catch bonefish right on that north flat when it's not party boat time out there. Wind up out of the east paddle the otherway to the west side of KB, all very cool shallow flats with lots of life, always see sharks in there.
