T. Patterson - Rising Sun - Any one ride these boards?
« on: April 16, 2014, 02:34:39 PM »
Thinking of replacing my Rusty 10'4" with something of a similar size in a few months.

Came across a T. Patterson 10'2" which looked pretty sweet. Definitely a lot less volume than the Rusty (which I was looking for).

Unfortunatey, I can't seem to find many reviews on any of his SUP's.

Has anyone rode the 10'2" and if so, would you care to share your thoughts on the ride. And if you haven't rode the 10'2", perhaps one of the other sizes?

Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks.

I spent a week riding the 9'2 last summer and we had a swell too. 3 to 5'.  If you're a short boarder, then this is a board you'll like. The one I rode was Timmy ' s first pop-out. It was heavy and the handle was way to forward.  The board still ripped.  It's pretty pulled in and thin, like 3 5/8". I think it's about 119 liters.  I'm a big guy at 235#. It barely floated me. I would have to paddle in late and steep with the board totally submerged. Then I would thrust it forward to pop. That's where the fun started. It's a high performance board. The 10'2 is probably not going to be as loose, but you will be able to get into waves easier.
The newer pop-outs are a lot lighter, and the handle is in the right spot. You can probably demo one at Timmy ' s shop in San Clemente. Don't know if you live in the area though...

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Thanks Talldude...this is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

I am looking for a manuverable short board feel in the 10' size so it sounds like it will fit the bill.

I am in the Malibu area so San Clemente is not that too far of a drive. I think there might be a place up in Camarillo as well...might have to check that out.
