Webcams at your break or paddle spot?
« on: April 13, 2014, 08:05:39 PM »
I constantly check the webcams on Surfline but the commercials on the free (limited view time) are annoying. The city of San Clemente has there own beach camera that I like better that the Surfline ones. I thought we should start a thread that shows what webcams you check your spot out with "Daily" I'm sure.  ;) I'd personally like to see paddle spots in other parts of the world.

Here is a link to the city of San Clemente, California's webcam. It pans from Riviera beach / T-street at the south, to the pier, to second spot right in front of the life guard tower (which is what the camera is mounted to). Then north to 240 / north beach in the distance. BTW, the owners of Riviera stand-up paddle boards live near that beach. Thus the name....

Whats your secret webcam location?
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Here's another one I like to check out, even though it's 3000 miles away...

This one is more for kiteboarding but you can get a good idea of the swell in the background and the wind graph is handy too.

Surfline is costly but, enjoy the quad cam selection that allows you to populate with four favorite breaks in or out of your local area.  If you see a set rolling in you can make that camera selection full screen.

Here's our club's cam at the Isle of Palms, SC pier http://carolinacoastsurfclub.org/surfcamnew.shtml.

Nearby is the http://www.jammercam.com/,   courtesy of  a beach bar, the Windjammer.  On the other side of Charleston at Folly Beach is http://www.tidesfollybeach.com/surfcam/,  hosted by the Tides Hotel.

If ever anyone is feeling down on their surf break you could check out one of the Great Lakes cams in this link.  Usually our surf is worse...

Not surf breaks, but a couple of our flatwater paddle spots that recently thawed out.

http://www.mauiwindcam.com/streaming/kanaha/  lower kanaha, camp one, camp one beach and spreks.

http://www.pieronecam.com/  Pier one. When the weather is clear and the surf is big you can see tow-in at pier one and big sets at tidy bowls.

The waiehu cam was a good one, but it's been down quite a while. The ads on the cams are pretty nice, especially the bluesmiths one that features Jeremy Riggs flying low on a downwinder.  Good perspective on his ridiculously skinny Bullet.

hardly a secret spot as its packed when there is surf, but the Surfline Cam is so bad and down half the time that we resort to the city beach cam…

I can't believe google has screwed things up so bad. It used to be easy to find surf webcams in maps....now all you get is paid links for mostly unrelated crap.
