Automated commercial cutters specify 1500-2000mm per minute. I try to get the wire temp hot enough to cut about a meter per minute. I've seen Foote go faster and get real fine results, but he's a master at this stuff.  I have some inconel wire, but it's heavy gauge (perhaps 16 or so), so I haven't tried it. I've also tried flat wire in a short bow thinking that it might cut smoother for making small parts (foam RC Slope Glider wings and bodies). It holds heat well for thin cross section, but it twists too easily.

As you can probably tell, I've destroyed a lot of foam. I wish I had taken notes, or if I did, I wish I knew where they are.
